Repetitive behaviours

When we start to develop repetitive behaviours that become intrusive this is called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and often these behaviours evolve from anxiety.

Something that makes you anxious or nervous seems to be made better when you take actions to rectify that anxiety and if you do it once and it makes you feel better then the brain tells us sometimes that repeating it excessively can make us feel even better. When we do things one day that ensures our survival our primitive brain tells us that we should repeat this. Sensible when we are dealing with fire but not if it is checking and re checking things tens of times. This behaviour can become exhausting and stressful in itself. These behaviours are perpetuated by the Hippo.

A session with me to understand how the brain is tricking you and how you can help yourself is a good first step to getting your life back on track.
